The US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy published an op-ed in the New York Times calling for there to be a surgeon general’s warning label on social media platforms. He stated that “social media is associated with significant mental health harms for adolescents.”
This labels would be similar to the ones found on the sides of cigarette boxes and says that according to evidence from tobacco studies, it shows that warning labels can increase awareness and change behaviour.
